I love painting. I have always loved painting more than any other visual art.
I love the the freedom of two dimensions which also exists in photography. Seeing “paintings on a wall”, that is how it all started. The layers, the colors, the extent of their decline as much as the attempts to stop it. Walls are the epitome of human civilization, they symbolize the demarcation of man from nature, they are the skin of human civilization.
Form, color, structure.
These are the same parameters every painting uses as well. Photography, on the other hand, plays a rather subordinate role; the images are completely simplistic photographically. There are a few parameters, “rules” if you want. No direct sunlight on the walls, always take the picture from eye level, only use a normal lens, so it has the impression of an ephemeral glance at a wall. In terms of photographic technique, a wall practically has no depth of field. Insofar, even aperture and shutter time are secondary. One could say that, photographically speaking, the most simplistic motif of them all is a wall.
